Beyond the Memory of Man -- New Novel Commences Fantasy Series About Race of Demonslayers Struggle to Survive

BLACKWOOD, N.J., June 11, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Prepare to embark on a quest to save a people and rid the world of evil. J.M. Barnes introduces a world of demonslayers and their struggle to keep their race alive in the fantastic epic new novel, entitled Beyond the Memory of Man: Demonslayer Chronicles: Book One (now available through 1stBooks).

Barnes opens the world of the demonslayers in the first installment of the series. The need for demonslayers in the world was diminishing, but a new threat mounted. The remaining flocks of human and inhuman demon worshippers banded together to destroy Slayaria. Fortunately, the city's oracles had foreseen the attack and sent their wisest member, Krosten, to hide children from each clan. Raised in a foster home and enchanted by Krosten to forget their identity until time, they grow with no knowledge of the battle that destroyed every demonslayer in Slayaria.

Years later, the time has come for the hidden children, now adults to rebuild Slayaria. The book focuses on Darkon who has awoken from the spell, lost and confused. Immediately, he finds trouble and is saved by Prince Galen who has fled to avoid his throne being usurped. They quickly become friends and set out together on a quest into Galen's home to regain his throne, gaining friends and loves and watching those close to them meet their demise. Add the special gift, a mind ability that allows Darkon to read thoughts and transform his arm into a mighty sword, and this first installment is an invitation to adventure and imagination with clear agendas and morals.

"The moral of the tale entire is one of universal acceptance. The Slayarian culture in many ways resembles an ancient people with American like ideals," Barnes states.

Barnes has been constructing the world and mythos of his book for over a decade and writing the books for nearly five years. As a member of the band, The Tragic Poets, he writes songs, plays guitar and belts out songs in his subterranean basement stage in his home in southern New Jersey. He is a sketch artist and philosophical poet as well. Currently, his day job is in medical transport and it affords him time to write. With influences from J.R.R. Tolkein to R.A. Salvatore, Barnes says he has "a wide appreciation for all things fantasy." Beyond the Memory of Man is his first book published in his exciting series.
