OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla., June 19, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) will combine various company offices into a new facility in Oklahoma City, Okla. A ground breaking ceremony will occur at 11:30 a.m. CDT today at 6401 South Air Depot Blvd.
Highlighting the occasion will be remarks by Oklahoma Lt. Gov. Mary Fallin; Oklahoma Secretary of State Susan Savage; Brent Rinehart, Oklahoma City councilperson, Ward 4; David Bialis, vice chair, economic development, Greater Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce and vice president/general manager, Cox Communications of Oklahoma; Mark S. Bojarski, Oklahoma City site manager, Defense Enterprise Solutions, Northrop Grumman Information Technology (IT); R. Stewart Scannell, Tinker site manager, postproduction support, Northrop Grumman Integrated Systems; and Richard I. Tanenbaum, managing partner, Gardner Property Interests.
Northrop Grumman will consolidate its personnel and work activities that currently operate at company sites throughout Oklahoma City. The 50,000 square foot facility will house approximately 250 employees and has 5,000 square feet of laboratory space. Another 250 Northrop Grumman employees in Oklahoma City will continue working directly in government facilities to support customers. Construction of the building is scheduled for completion by October 2003.
"We have approximately 500 employees in Oklahoma City," said Bojarski. "The Oklahoma City workforce has a myriad of talent and skills. This office consolidation will help Northrop Grumman sustain its substantial growth, in addition to providing more sufficient office and lab space for projected growth, and better serve our customers in the area."
"On base, our B-2 Stealth Bomber Weapon System Support Center is truly a world class facility. This new facility will afford us the opportunity to collaborate, share best practices and give our customers the total benefit of this diverse corporation," said Scannell.
The Oklahoma City-based Northrop Grumman team, several hundred of whom work at Tinker Air Force Base, comprises organizations representing five Northrop Grumman sectors: Information Technology, Integrated Systems, Space Technology, Electronic Systems and Mission Systems.
These Northrop Grumman teams support customers such as the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center, the Federal Aviation Administration's Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center, and several state, county and municipal organizations.
Bruce Ewing, director, sustainment engineering and management solutions, Defense Enterprise Solutions, Northrop Grumman IT, and Scannell will serve as the company's lead executives at the facility.
