New cdma2000 1X Nokia 2270 phone makes debut at MetroPCS

DALLAS - Nokia has begun deliveries of its newest entry-level cdma2000® 1X handset, the Nokia 2270 phone, to wireless carrier MetroPCS, Inc. With these initial deliveries, MetroPCS will be the first carrier to offer the Nokia 2270 phone to customers. Customers buying the Nokia 2270 phone through MetroPCS will be signing up for their innovative flat rate pricing plan offering unlimited anytime local calls for $35 per month with no contract.

"The Nokia 2270 handset brings the same level of simplicity to the wireless phone that MetroPCS brings to the wireless phone bill," said Larry Paulson, vice president of product marketing for Nokia's CDMA business unit. "Together with MetroPCS' flat rate pricing plan, the Nokia 2270 phone's combination of an easy-to-use interface and a comfortably stylish design makes it the perfect solution for experienced wireless users or individuals looking for a simple way to go wireless."

Despite being easy enough for novice users, the Nokia 2270 phone includes a wide variety of must-have features. The phonebook can hold up to 250 entries, and also supports voice dialing for 25 of the most used numbers, while for added utility, the Nokia 2270 phone integrates an alarm clock and calendar. User-changeable Xpress-on color covers allow users to personalize the look of their phone, and two-way text messaging gives another easy option for MetroPCS subscribers to stay in touch.

"MetroPCS is committed to offering value and simplicity for our customers' communications needs," said Roger Linquist, president and CEO for MetroPCS. "The addition of the Nokia 2270 phone to our lineup gives MetroPCS a new way to help fulfill that mission."
