SIP Forum Using Ubiquity Speak Conference Director Application

Highlighting that there are Practical Applications Today for SIP; The SIP Forum is Using the Ubiquity Platform for Conference Calls for Member Activities

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, June 30, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- SIP Forum, (www.sipforum.org), the industry organization for the promotion and inter-working of Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), announced today that it is using the Ubiquity (www.ubiquity.net) Speak Conference Director application for member conference calls.

The use of Speak by the forum is evidence of the commitment of the group to leverage the technology and applications available in the market to further the aims of the Forum -- to promote awareness and provide information about the benefits and capabilities that are enabled by SIP.

Jorgen Bjorkner, Chairman for the SIP Forum said, "The Forum organizes regular calls at the board and marketing group levels and these calls are now using SIP through the Speak application. This application provides us with both a useful facility and proof points that SIP based applications have real world application. Calls can be made from PSTN and Mobile current endpoints as well as from SIP endpoints, ensuring access for members who are traveling. The application provides us with easy on-line scheduling and conference call management facilities through web browsers. Presence and instant messaging using SIMPLE are also supported as further evidence of leveraging SIP within applications."

Chris Haddock, Board Member and Director European Marketing for Ubiquity confirmed, "Bringing together the worlds of voice and web conferencing, Ubiquity has designed and built the industry's first integrated conferencing system based on SIP technology. Speak Conference Director has provided a means for the forum to manage its regular calls as well as a showcase for the application of SIP. Ubiquity's pleased to be able to support the forum in this area."
