NOKIA CHAIRMAN AND CEO RECEIVES HONORARY MEMBERSHIP TO IEEE

Nokia Chairman and CEO, Jorma Ollila, has been awarded honorary membership of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Ollila's citation for the award is for contributions to launching mobile communications, a major global industry that has fundamentally changed the way people communicate.

Since 1981, the IEEE has bestowed 32 Honorary Memberships. Ollila received one of two IEEE Honorary Memberships granted in 2003.

Speaking on the appointment, IEEE President, Michael S. Adler, said:

"Jorma Ollila has transformed Nokia from a national conglomerate into a global leader in mobile communications - not to mention one of the best-managed and most innovative high tech companies in the world.  He has uncommon leadership ability, and it seems Nokia's slogan, Connecting People, epitomizes both what the company does best, and the talents its leader possesses."
