PERSONNEL CHANGES IN KEMIRA'S CHEMICALS BUSINESS


Mr Matti Viitanen has been appointed new Managing Director of Kemira Pigments Oy from 1 October 2003. Kemira Pigments is a part of Kemira's Industrial Chemicals SBU. Matti Viitanen, M.Sc. (Eng.), 45, has worked for The Dow Chemical Company in Germany, Saudi-Arabia, the Netherlands and Finland from 1987 onwards. He was in charge of Dow Finland Oy's Hamina site in 1997 - 2000. From 2000 on he has been engaged in production and business-related managerial and executive duties in Dow Benelux. Matti Viitanen will be located in Pori and will report to Harri Kerminen, Executive Vice President, Industrial Chemicals.
 
Kemira Pigments' former managing director Risto Keränen has moved to business development of titanium dioxide specialty pigments and byproducts. Risto Keränen will be located in Helsinki and he will report to Harri Kerminen.
 
Yrjö Sipilä, President, Kemira Chemicals Oy over a long period of time, will pursue a career as an entrepreneur. His employment with Kemira will end at the end of the current year. After that he will continue as member of the board of the US-based water treatment chemicals company Kemiron and of ASCE, Aluminium Sulphate Co. of Egypt. Both Kemiron and ASCE are Kemira's partially owned companies.
