Düsseldorf/Helsinki, 8 September 2003 - With the new wireless connection using Bluetooth SIM Access Profile (SAP), automotive communications will soon be even easier and more convenient. This innovative solution allows a device to access a SIM card in a compatible mobile phone over a wireless link using Bluetooth technology, and use that SIM card's identification and communications functions. The device is then able to read and write data from/to the SIM card inserted in the other device as if the SIM was connected via cable.
As part of the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG), a trade association comprised of leaders in the telecommunications, computing, and network industries, Nokia Smart Traffic Products was a substantial contibutor to the technical development of the SAP concept. Nokia is a pioneer in this field and was committed to drive the progress of Bluetooth SIM Access Profile (SAP) standardization.

At the 8th annual Nokia Mobile Internet Conference (NMIC) which takes place 29-30 October 2003 in Nice, France, Nokia will be presenting its first automotive communication solution using Bluetooth SAP technology.
