Heights of Terror: New Book Addresses the Possible Reasons and Trends Behind, Stemming From Sept. 11th Attacks

WINNIPEG, Manitoba, Oct. 1, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- In September 2001, much of the world looked on in horror, shock and sorrow at the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon. As the second anniversary has come and passed, people are beginning to piece together history and incidents that may have led to such an outburst of hatred. In his new book, Heights of Terror (now available through 1stBooks), Patrice K. Owiafe addresses the world and America after the terrorist attacks two years ago.

"This work captures the horror, shock, pain, disgust and anger felt and expressed by the public," Owiafe says.

Heights of Terror was written to isolate mistakes and prevent future tragedies. In times of disaster it is natural for people to reflect on what went wrong. This knowledge helps in adjusting lives and making sure the same things never happen again. With this in mind, Owiafe looks at the attacks and writes that they were "committed solely out of malice." He addresses the scale of destruction and death, while trying to understand life and its meaning.

He also considers a myriad of other issues, such as avoiding terrorist sites, the need for stoicism in the face of danger and the necessity of accepting the past while using its lessons as a source of strength and hope. In addition, his book echoes the need for steps to deter the possibility of a recurrence.

Dramatic, sentimental and engaging, Heights of Terror is an intense and emotionally rewarding examination of one of the darkest days in American history.

Owiafe was born in Ghana. He attended the University of Ghana and the University of Oslo, Norway. In 1997, he moved to Canada to pursue his master's degree at the University of Manitoba. After his studies, he became a Canadian citizen and currently lives in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Heights of Terror is his first book.
