EMS Technologies Wins Library Of Congress In-Building Wireless Contract Valued At $2.9 Million

ATLANTA, March 22, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- EMS Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:ELMG) announced today that the EMS Wireless division has been awarded a $2.9 million contract to provide in-building wireless coverage in the Library of Congress's major campus and tunnel systems.

The contract will cover the Library's Madison, Jefferson and Adams buildings, as well as the public tunnels -- areas representing more than four million square feet. EMS Wireless, the Performance Leader in RF Solutions, has provided a carrier-neutral fiber-based Distributed Antenna System (DAS) supporting multiple networks, including ones for the Capitol Police, cellular, iDEN, and PCS frequencies.

Alfred G. Hansen, EMS president and chief executive officer, stated, "We're extremely proud of this contract. EMS recognizes the importance of the Library of Congress to our nation, and the need for staff and visitors alike to be able to have reliable communications while inside the Library facility."

"This has been one of the most challenging facilities for which EMS has been contracted to provide RF coverage," noted Michael Gulledge, vice president, Sales & Marketing, EMS Wireless. "Because of the Library's historical importance, we balanced the needs of the Library's wireless users with the aesthetics of the installation. We wanted to ensure that the wireless system would blend in seamlessly with the Library's design."

EMS Wireless is beginning installation and is expected to have all of the public networks completed by the end of the year. This installation will feature a new patent-pending aesthetically pleasing broadband "fin" antenna, and the EMS Wireless high power EkoCell in-building system.
