Nokia selects Westchester County as site for New York metropolitan area office

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. - Nokia today announced that Westchester County will be the location for its New York area corporate office.  The new facility will serve as the headquarters for Nokia's Enterprise Solutions business group, the CFO's office and will also house select sales, marketing and corporate personnel. The office is expected to be operational by July 1, 2004 at a temporary location in White Plains, with a permanent facility in the Town of Harrison to be renovated and occupied in the following 12 to 18 months.

Initially, Nokia expects 100 to 150 employees to be based in the Westchester County office. These employees will be a combination of new local hires and personnel transferred from other Nokia locations both in the United States and abroad. When the permanent facility is completed, there will be sufficient space for long-term expansion plans of up to approximately 300 employees.

"Westchester County's proximity to the world's financial capital and headquarters of many of the world's largest corporations, combined with the quality of life that the area offers made it a perfect selection for Nokia's newest corporate office," said Rick Simonson, Chief Financial Officer for Nokia. "Nokia and its employees pride themselves on becoming involved in their communities, and we look forward to continuing that tradition and becoming an integral part of Westchester County and the entire metropolitan New York area."

The permanent facility, located at 102 Corporate Park Drive in the Town of Harrison, is a four story, 102,000 square foot building that sits on an approximately nine acre site. The building, currently vacant, will undergo nearly $30 million in renovations before opening for business.

"We worked hard to show Nokia the benefits of doing business in Westchester and we are delighted that they decided to locate here," said County Executive Andy Spano. "Having such a prestigious global corporation noted for its community involvement will be a big plus for Westchester, and we consider the company a welcome addition to our business environment."

"We are delighted that Nokia has selected Harrison as headquarters for one of its business groups," said Stephen Malfitano, Supervisor/Mayor of the Town and Village of Harrison, New York. "The Town of Harrison remains committed to attracting and maintaining a significant international corporate presence."
Nokia currently employs over 6,000 people in over 20 cities across the United States, with its Americas headquarters in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and a major presence in both San Diego and Mountain View, California. Worldwide, Nokia has over 50,000 employees.
