Melvin Lightford believes he is one of these blessed individuals, and he has dedicated his life to God. The Core of Faith centers on the life and times of Lightford and offers an illustration of his path toward God. Beginning with childhood, he walks readers through his life, from high school to college and into adulthood, depicting how God made the journey with him. The calling, he says, made him a "humble man of great faith," and he came to the realization that all power derives from "above by and through Jesus".
"The highlight (of The Core of Faith) is the unwavering faith that I possess in knowing God, and when I had to call on God, he was there for me...They will also learn why I am a chosen vessel and why my life is, without a doubt, in God's hands ... why I must stay humble and guided by God," he says.
An ordained prophet, minister, preacher, speaker, mentor and teacher, Lightford hopes his personal story of being called into God's service will give readers hope. His book provides the understanding that with the help of God, people can endure anything. Lightford believes that once people know this, they can focus fully on life's endeavors.
"No matter what happens, give God thanks. Your prayer life is special and any man cannot break the bond you have with God," he says.
The Core of Faith is not Lightford's first book. Lightford is a marketing graduate from the University of Massachusetts in North Dartmouth with a background in law enforcement. He has written a number of books, including A Splendid Heart, Insight into Spiritual Revelations, Prophecy Coming to America and Horizon of War. He believes his writing and life are driven by the will of God.
"I have the favor of God. My writing comes from the spiritual realm. I'm gifted with guidance, knowledge, wisdom and understanding," he says.
