Kesko Food's and ICA's aim is to combine the parties' current operations in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Both companies would hold 50 percent of the joint venture. The parties intend to make the final decisions, sign the final agreements and obtain the required permits so that the operations of the joint venture could start by the end of 2004.
A stock exchange release of the letter of intent was published on 19 December 2003.
