Giant Blizzard Strikes Thessaloniki. Snowboarders rejoice!

For the first time in known history, snow fell along the boardwalk of Lefkos Pyrgos, home to the famous "White Tower" of Thessaloniki, Greece, during the summer.  Yes, snow. The arrival of Nokia Totally Board, an extreme sports and hip-hop music festival has brought with it a man-made mountain of steel and snow.  As the world's top Big Air snowboarders and skiers thrilled the crowd of 15,000, Greek resident Taig Kris, the international inline skate icon was also on hand, as were the world's top professional skateboarders at the giant vert ramp. The music stage was headlined by European chart-toppers The Rasmus, with Greek bands Matisse and Mikro also entertaining the local crowd. Mobility demonstrations, from games to imaging to the newly introduced "light messaging" were also on display for this mobile-savvy audience.

"Nokia Totally Board combines the best in extreme sports, music and mobility, creating an absolutely unforgettable day for young people from across Greece," said Kai Öistämö, Nokia's Senior Vice President, Mobile Phones. "Whether you enjoy the high-flying antics of the Big Air athletes, listening to your favourite band or DJ, or checking the latest mobile phones or mobile games, no one is ever bored at Totally Board."

Showcasing Nokia's vision of "Life Goes Mobile", visitors to Nokia Totally Board experience mobile technologies like Multimedia Messaging, imaging, games, music, in addition to the latest products aimed at today's digital youth.  Nokia also unveiled its latest digital youth-oriented mobile phone, the Nokia 3220 camera phone.  Featuring the latest mobile technologies, as well as new innovations like "light messaging" in which you can "write" a message in mid-air, the Nokia 3220 was a crowd favorite.

Europe's hottest DJs and Vjs, including the Scratch Perverts and VJ Micha Klein took centre stage at the Nokia Orbit Room, sharing the spotlight with clowning dancers and hip hoppers. The Nokia Orbit Room was particularly popular with aspiring DJs or music fans who had the opportunities to learn to spin records and lay down beats from Europe's best.

Nokia Totally Board Thessaloniki is the 7th such sport, music and mobility festival, following previous
events in Poland, Germany, United Kingdom, France, Spain, and South Africa.
