Lithuania's largest agricultural and machinery trading centre to open near Kaunas


In addition to Finland, Kesko Agro is active in all Baltic countries and is the market leader of the Baltic agricultural trade. Kesko Agro's network includes five own units in Estonia, four in Latvia and now three in Lithuania plus a network of some 50 distributors of spare parts and accessories throughout the Baltics. The new unit is a service centre of agricultural trading offering farmers a comprehensive selection of products in addition to information and service.
 
The Kesko Agro subsidiary, Kesko Agro Lietuva, is planning new agricultural trading centres in Panevezys and possibly in Siauliai. In 2003, Kesko Agro Lietuva's net sales were 41 million euros. Its sales during the first six months of 2004 totalled 40.4 euros. This year, the Baltic agricultural and machinery sales have progressed well.  In the Baltics, the market is anticipated to grow by 5-10%, while the growth in Finland is about 1%. Kesko Agro employs some 130 persons in Lithuania and a total of some 350 persons in the whole of the Baltics. In 2003, the net sales of the whole Kesko Agro Group were 768 million euros.
