Jaakko Pöyry Group awarded EUR 3.3 million transportation project contracts in Kosovo and Mexico


The Jaakko Pöyry Group's Infrastructure & Environment business group (Jaakko Pöyry Infra) has been awarded contracts for a motorway project in Kosovo and a railway project in Mexico City. The value of the services to be provided is EUR 3.3 million. The projects will be carried out by BPI-Consult GmbH of Germany and Electrowatt Infra Ltd., Latin America.

The Ministry of Transport and Communications of Kosovo has appointed BPI-Consult to provide engineering for the design of a new motorway in Kosovo. As a part of the southern Europe core road network, the 112 km long motorway will connect Kosovo to the port of Durres in Albania and the Pan-European Road Corridor 10 in Serbia. BPI-Consult's services comprise the overall planning of the motorway including complete road design and all structural design of bridges, junctions and crossings. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2005.

In Mexico Electrowatt Infra, in association with its Mexican partner Sintra, has been awarded a consulting contract by Secretaria de Comunicaciones y Transporte for a suburban railway north of Mexico City. Electrowatt Infra's services include the tender process and other pre-implementation planning tasks. The services will be completed by the end of October 2004.
