Photo Release -- Northrop Grumman Appoints Janis G. Pamiljans Vice President, Program Manager for F-35 Joint Strike Fighter


EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Sept. 13, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Integrated Systems sector has named Janis G. Pamiljans vice president and program manager its work on the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.

Pamiljans replaces Steve Briggs, who continues to serve as vice president and deputy for the sector's Air Combat Systems business area in El Segundo.

As a principal member of the Lockheed Martin JSF team, Northrop Grumman's Integrated Systems sector is responsible for design and integration of the F-35's center fuselage section, including integration of the subsystems; development of a substantial portion of F-35 mission systems software; ground and flight test support; signature- and low-observables development support, and modeling and simulation activities.

Pamiljans joined Northrop Grumman in 1987 as a flight-test engineer and has held a number of key positions on the F/A-18, B-2 and F-35 programs in the areas of production, integrated logistics support, lean operations and quality assurance. He was vice president of production for the Integrated Systems sector from May 2003 until his appointment to the F-35 program.

Pamiljans earned a bachelor's degree in aero engineering from San Jose State University.

Including work performed by other company operating sectors, Northrop Grumman is responsible for producing more than 25 percent of the F-35. In addition to Integrated Systems, three other Northrop Grumman sectors support the program. The Electronic Systems sector provides the fire control radar, and in a joint venture with Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control provides the electro-optical distributed aperture system and the electro-optical targeting system. The Mission Systems sector provides system and software engineering support for the mission planning system, and the Space Technology sector provides the integrated communications, navigation and identification avionics suite.
