Einstein Made Easy -- Author Offers Accessible Biography and Study of Theories

PULLMAN, Wash., Oct. 21, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Albert Einstein was named by Time magazine as the most influential person of the 20th century for his discoveries and theories that expanded human understanding of the universe. The new book, The Fascinating Life and Theory of Einstein (now available through AuthorHouse), by Walter C. Mih, explains the legendary physicist's life and work in a way anyone can understand.

"The Theory of Relativity is a masterpiece of science that greatly increased our understanding of the universe and profoundly influenced our world," Mih says.

A foreword by Einstein's grandson, Bernard, provides a rare personal glimpse at a man whose name has become synonymous with genius. Mih offers simple derivations of the physicist's famous theory with the goal of helping high school and college students, in addition to the general public, understand Einstein's ideas.

The book is divided into two easily digestible sections. The first part, Chapters 1 through 7, offers a detailed outline of Einstein's life and accomplishments. Mih peppers the biography with enlightening anecdotes, such as the fact Einstein flunked math in school and worked as a patent clerk before making scientific history. The second part focuses on The Special Theory of Relativity and equations. Throughout Chapters 8 through 13, Mih uses high school algebra to explain the seemingly complex theories. Mih breaks down Einstein's most famous equation, E=mc2, into four steps using simple algebra.

The Fascinating Life and Theory of Einstein stands as one of the most accessible biographies and theories of one of the world's greatest thinkers.

Mih received his doctorate from the University of Wisconsin. He worked in research for eight years at Beloit Corporation and taught at Washington State University in Pullman, Wash., for 26 years. Studying Einstein's theories has been a lifelong hobby, and he has tried to make them as simple as possible for his book, The Fascinating Life and Theory of Einstein. Acquaintances with Einstein's son, Hans, grandson, Bernard, and granddaughter, Evelyn, add a personal touch to Mih's book.
