SWECO wins additional order from Billerud

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Nov. 17, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- SWECO's subsidiary SWECO PIC has been awarded a contract for energy optimisation of the Billerud pulp and paper mill in Karlsborg, outside the city of Kalix in northern Sweden. The assignment is worth around 780,000 Euro.

SWECO PIC will engineer all rebuilds and new constructions needed to increase the mill's capacity for self-generation of biomass based electricity as a means for optimising energy efficiency and further improving its environmental status. The mill's self-supply of electricity will be raised from 30 to 65 per cent of the total requirement. The assignment is scheduled for completion at mid-year 2006.

Pulp and paper manufacturing has been carried out in Karlsborg since the early 1900s. Today, Billerud Karlsborg is the largest industry in the province of Norrbotten.
