Nokia selects CTIT/GSTIT-ETC as a preferred training provider

Nokia is delighted to announce that the Ethiopian Graduate School of Telecommunications and Information Technology (CTIT/GSTIT-ETC), sponsored by the Ethiopian Telecommunication Corporation (ETC), has been selected as Nokia's preferred training provider in sub-Saharan Africa. CTIT/GSTIT-ETC will work with Nokia in the region to deliver training courses on Nokia's GSM and WCDMA products.

"We've been impressed with the quality and competence of CTIT/GSTIT-ETC's telecommunications training team," said Lucas Kranck, Account Director, Networks, Nokia.  "CTIT/GSTIT-ETC has demonstrated great flexibility and a competitive pricing structure in striving to meet Nokia's requirements.  We are confident that CTIT/GSTIT-ETC will become a valuable and highly effective training provider in sub-Saharan Africa."

Both Nokia and the GSTIT will now invest in the development of the technical competence of CTIT/GSTIT-ETC 's key telecommunications trainers.  Upon completion of a formal development program, the CTIT/GSTIT-ETC trainers will be assessed for accreditation as Nokia product trainers.

Nokia has greatly expanded its networks business in Africa in recent months.  Nokia has concluded infrastructure contracts to supply mobile network solutions to ETC in Ethiopia, as well as to GPTC in Libya, Cell-C in South Africa, and Millicom in Sierra Leone.

The College of Telecommunication and Information Technology (CTIT), sponsored by the Ethiopian Telecommunication Corporation (ETC), has been engaged in the area of telecommunications training for over 50 years and recently also opened a graduate institute, GSTIT (www.gstit.edu.et).  GSTIT offers three postgraduate programs, namely, Telecom Engineering, Information Technology and Telecom Management.  GSTIT is intended to fill the gap for high-level professionals demanded in the ICT sector in Ethiopia in particular and Eastern Africa in general.  Graduates are expected to competently plan, organize, design, develop, operate, maintain and manage ICT infrastructure and ICT- based services.  GSTIT provides forums for sharing knowledge and exchange of information on new technologies and management tools and practices.
