California Software and Microsoft Target IBM iSeries Customers

New Midrange Alliance Program to provide alternative roadmap for IBM AS/400 and iSeries customers

SAN CLEMENTE, Calif., Jan. 13, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- California Software Corporation (Pink Sheets:CSWX), a leader in Legacy Extension, Business Intelligence and loan production software for banks, credit unions and consumer lending institutions and developer of the award-winning BABY, Unibol, and INFINITE product lines, announced today its inclusion in the Microsoft Midrange Alliance Program targeting IBM iSeries customers.

California Software, the global leader in IBM Midrange migration products has teamed up with Microsoft to provide an easy way to migrate IBM AS/400 and iSeries-based applications to Windows. The cornerstone of this endeavor between the two companies is the INFINITE iSERIES product from California Software.

"When we became aware of the IBM roadmap for AS/400 end-users and developers, we contacted Microsoft because we felt that we could jointly develop a strategy that would allow for a much easier, more cost-effective and less intrusive plan for the future of iSeries-based applications. Without asking RPG or COBOL/400 programmers to rewrite their applications to Java, our plan automatically migrates their existing iSeries-based applications to Windows, provides a graphical front end and, web enables the screens and provides powerful integration and reporting tools. This technology from California Software is based on the Microsoft Net and Visual Studio environments," said Carol Conway, president, California Software.

"The underlying assumption here is that choices are a good thing," says Tim O'Brien, senior product manager in Microsoft's platform strategy group. "Choices help customers make better decisions. They help them hedge risks, they help them transition through what would otherwise be bumpy technology decisions. It's all about broadening the spectrum of choices and options available to them."
