Skeletons in the Closet -- New Mystery Continues Suspenseful Series Involving Gay Couple

EAST HARTFORD, Conn., February 9, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- An old secret returns with a vengeance, and one man's peaceful golden years come to a violent end in Susan M. Hooper's latest book, Another Day, Another Murder (now available through AuthorHouse).

Domestic partners Barnaby Moss and Arnie Kotkin once again find their lives burdened by grim circumstances, even as they are recovering from a traumatic experience surrounding their wedding. An act of violence takes place next door to Jack and Helene Fentnor, who are family to Arnie. When disturbing details emerge, it is clear that this is no ordinary robbery gone wrong.

Although Arnie and Barnaby have become quite the amateur sleuths, Arnie finds he must sit this mystery out to slay some personal demons. Barnaby travels alone to Old Saybrook, Conn., to help the Fentnors make sense of this dramatic new development in the neighborhood, and Helene proves to be a worthy partner in solving crime. The two delve into an intriguing array of clues that seem to be going nowhere until Barnaby recalls a puzzling comment from the past. Helene seizes this break in the case and investigates a family scandal from years earlier.

The suspense builds as skeletons come out of the closet in this latest exciting addition to Hooper's socially aware mystery series.

Hooper worked as a legal secretary and assistant for 23 years. She is also well known on the Connecticut craft circuit for her unique creations. With her mystery series, Hooper seeks to "open a few eyes" to the homosexual community without "ruffling a lot of feathers." Another Day, Another Murder is the third book. The series' premier novel, Belle Harbor Skeletons, was recently selected for the Wickham Library reading group, which is comprised of senior citizens. In the words of one member, "If someone had been around to speak so sensitively and honestly about homosexuality when I was a girl, perhaps there would be fewer closed minds today." Murder Junction is the second book in the series, and Hooper will soon publish the fourth installment, Silent Alarm. All are available through AuthorHouse.
