SimpleTech Announces Memory Product Line Expansion -- DDR1 and DDR2 Memory Modules Up to 4GB for Servers and Blade Servers

Ideal for Applications Requiring Small Form Factor with Registered Functionality

SAN FRANCISCO, March 1, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Intel Developer Forum -- SimpleTech, Inc. (Nasdaq:STEC), a designer, manufacturer and marketer of custom and open-standard memory solutions based on Flash memory, DRAM and hard disk drive technologies, today announced additions to its memory module product offerings. The company announced new DDR1 and DDR2 ultra low profile modules designed for use in servers and blade servers, as well as the highest capacity upgrade for DDR1 and DDR2 with a 4GB module. SimpleTech will demonstrate the new modules at the Intel Developer Forum (Memory Community, booth No. 924) in San Francisco, Calif., March 1-3, 2004.

The ultra low profile (0.72" high) registered DDR1/DDR2 DIMMs have data transfer rates of up to 4.2 GB/sec, are available in capacities of 512MB, 1GB and 2GB, and are suitable for sub-1U systems and blade servers. DDR1 and DDR2 regular profile memory modules are now available in capacities up to 4GB.

"SimpleTech has a history of providing proprietary products using our patented stacking technology. As the market transitions to DDR2 devices that use FBGA packaging, we have extended our leadership position by offering stacking technology for this new package type," said Doug Finke, director of DRAM product marketing at SimpleTech. "We are now offering the highest capacities available for servers. Our low profile modules are ideal for space-constrained applications that require the smallest form factor."

"Innovative, low-profile DDR2 from companies such as SimpleTech will enable the server industry to increase capacity without adding additional servers by offering high capacity upgrade to 4GB," said Jim Pappas, director of initiative marketing for Intel's Digital Enterprise Group.

"SimpleTech provides the responsiveness, flexibility, and high quality valued by server OEMs. Excellent service is very important to us," said Finke.

SimpleTech has had significant interaction with JEDEC, the memory standards organization, to meet industry design specifications. SimpleTech also is an active member of the Memory Implementers Forum (www.memforum.org), an online community advancing key memory technologies such as DDR2.

Engineering samples are currently available to OEM customers. Distribution is scheduled to begin this quarter through industrial distributors.

All SimpleTech memory modules come with a lifetime warranty backed by SimpleTech's reputation for quality and support.
