Lantronix and AWS Partner to Deliver M2M Solutions Offering Cellular, Satellite, RF and Digital Control Channel Wireless and Wired Ethernet Device Networking

Wireless Transmission Unit Supports Wired Ethernet, LAN and WAN Networking Capabilities, Enabling Companies to Address Full Range of M2M Application Needs

IRVINE, Calif., March 15, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Lantronix, Inc. (Nasdaq:LTRX), a leader in device networking and data center management, and AWS, Inc., provider of the Cellterra line of end-to-end machine-to-machine (M2M) solutions, announced today the formation of a strategic marketing alliance to bring device networking hardware and software to market that supports a full range of wired Ethernet, LAN and WAN communications capabilities.

The Wireless Transmission Unit (WTU), developed by AWS as part of its Cellterra M2M solution offering, incorporates Lantronix's market leading XPort embedded wired Ethernet device server technology, combined with support for a broad range of WAN networks, including cellular (GSM/GPRS, CDMA), satellite, RF and Digital Control Channel, along with the option of adding GPS for mobile and location specific applications. The joint marketing alliance will allow Lantronix to refer customers and partners requiring WAN M2M communications to the Celterra WTU from AWS, and AWS will be able to offer Lantronix wired and 802.11b wireless Ethernet device servers as part of its M2M solutions.

The WTU is a compact, versatile, 2-way wireless communication I/O device, capable of operation on any communication carrier network, enabling integrators and end users to monitor, manage and control devices such as field sensors, instruments and mobile assets and send and retrieve real-time data from these devices. The WTU addresses the challenge of connecting remote or mobile assets where wired Ethernet or 802.11 wireless is not an option. As a rugged industrial grade solution, the WTU is ideal for deployment in harsh environments, such as oil and gas control systems, process instrumentation, water monitoring, general SCADA and telematics applications.

"We are very excited about this strategic marketing alliance because Lantronix and AWS have complementary networking capabilities," said Marc Nussbaum, CEO of Lantronix. "By joining forces, we are able to address the full range of communications requirements for customers deploying M2M solutions, whether in industrial or commercial buildings or in remote locations out in the field."

"Partnering with Lantronix is a great opportunity for both companies to expand our reach in the M2M market and to better address the needs of our customers," added Craig Carroll, CEO of AWS. "With this strategic marketing partnership, AWS can reach more customers with its Cellterra hardware, middleware and user-interface solutions and can provide Lantronix wired and 802.11b wireless device servers to customers who need those capabilities."

Lantronix and AWS will be presenting in a session at the upcoming M2M Expo and Conference in Dallas on March 23. The Cellterra WTU will also be on display in the Lantronix booth.
