New Book Helps Retirees Avoid Outliving Their Money

OMAHA, Neb., Sept. 12, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Certified Senior Advisor Steve Casto has addressed retirees' fear of outliving their money with his new book, "Is Your Retirement Heading in the Right Direction?" The book, to be launched at the end of September, illustrates a proven technique for eliminating this fear felt by the majority of senior citizens. If they run out of money, they fear losing their independence and becoming dependent upon their children. Yet many do not know how to determine if their funds will carry them through old age and chronic illness before ultimate death. Fact is, nobody can be certain of how long they will live. But author Steve Casto illustrates in his book a foolproof technique for handling one's funds prudently enough to overcome that hurdle.

The book delves into the Compass System, a personally designed program that helps individual seniors secure their financial future. The system's foolproof formula factors inflation into the mix, and results in a financial blueprint for security that seniors cannot outlive. Substantial tax benefits can be perks of the Compass System if handled properly. Planning required minimum distributions (RMD's) on IRA's is part of the plan that avoids financial depletion in old age.

Author Casto said, "The reason I wrote this book is because I got tired of seniors using the wrong strategies thus putting too much stress on themselves as their funds dwindled. As a senior advisor, I've seen too many cases of seniors making wrong decisions, following bogus advice or leaning too heavily on unqualified people to map out their financial future. I wrote this book to help them prevent those costly mistakes."

Steve Casto has authored many articles in New Horizon, a local senior publication. He has outlined winning strategies for seniors to help them overcome financial burdens and initiate wise financial decisions. His successful problem solving for seniors led him to write the book, "Is Your Retirement Heading in the Right Direction?"

The book shows seniors step-by-step solutions to three major trouble spots: how to increase their income, reduce their taxes and never outlive their money. Other important topics covered are how to find a trusted advisor instead of working with salesmen and how to avoid making the IRS (Internal Revenue Service) the big beneficiary of their IRA's (Individual Retirement Account.) Mr. Casto said, "Because we are living so much longer and inflation is a huge problem, we can no longer just be conservative. A financial analysis called the Trinity Study shows how using the wrong strategies can cause us to outlive our money. These 'wrong strategies' are why I wrote the book."

Part of the proceeds of the sale of the book will go to the American Cancer Society.
