Statement on JetBlue Flight 292


NEW YORK, Sept. 21, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- JetBlue Airways flight number 292, departing Burbank, Calif. bound for JFK International Airport, departed at 3:17 p.m. local time with 140 customers and 6 crewmembers on board. The flight crew received an indication that the nose landing gear did not retract. This was confirmed, and the flight was advised to lower its weight by burning fuel.

The aircraft landed safely at Los Angeles International Airport at 6:19 p.m. local time. Customers and crewmembers deplaned via air-stairs. There are no initial reports of injuries.

JetBlue is working with the Federal Aviation Administration, the National Transportation Safety Board and the aircraft manufacturer, Airbus, in the investigation of this incident.

JetBlue is assisting flight 292 customers by offering immediate travel accommodations and other assistance as needed.
