HOUSTON, Nov. 21, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- SYSCO Corporation (NYSE:SYY), North America's largest foodservice marketer and distributor, announced today that Twila M. Day has been appointed vice president and chief information officer. Mrs. Day, who currently serves as vice president, information technology, will assume her new position effective December 1, 2005.
Mrs. Day, 43, began her SYSCO career in 1992 as a senior programmer analyst in the company's information technology department, progressing to team leader of the SYSCO Uniform Systems (SUS) project the following year and project manager in 1995. Mrs. Day was promoted to senior manager, application development in 1996, advanced to senior director, operating company support team in 1997 and in 1999 was named senior director, application development. She was appointed assistant vice president, technology and applications in 2000 and assumed her current role in July 2005.
Mrs. Day was born in Champaign, Illinois and raised in Florida. She is a 1989 graduate of Our Lady of the Lake College (San Antonio, TX) where she earned a bachelor's degree in business management. She and her husband, Bill, live in Richmond, Texas and have two sons and three daughters.
