FORTIS SUPPORTS TURKISH FOOTBALL


Now that its activities in Turkey are operating under the Fortis name, Fortis is now making a contribution to Turkish football. Fortis has just signed an agreement with the Turkish Football Federation to sponsor the Turkish National Cup for the 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 seasons.
 
The sponsorship was announced at a press conference on 13 December which included Tayfun Bayazit, CEO of Fortis Turkey, Dr Levent Biçakci, President of the Turkish Football Federation and Ertan Özerdem, General Manager of Digiturk, the official broadcasting company for the Professional League and the Fortis Turkish Cup. Mr Bayazit emphasised in a short speech that Fortis, which sponsors Anderlecht in Belgium and Feyenoord in the Netherlands, is no newcomer to football. He went on to say: "At Fortis, being part of the community that we serve is one of our core values. We are  a pioneer in our sector, both in terms of social activities and in terms of banking services. We aim to live up to that in many social areas, including sports, education, art and culture."
