Preliminary Results of well 7122/7-3 (Goliat)

The Goliat oil discovery is located 85 km north-west of Hammerfest and 50 km southeast of the Snøhvit field and the drilling is being undertaken by the semi-submersible drilling rig "Erik Raude". The water depth is 341 meters and the well has reached a depth of approximately 2.400 meters. Planned total depth is 2.700 meters.

The well encountered an oil and gas column in the main prospects in sandstones of Jurassic/Triassic age at a depth of approximately 1000 meters. An extensive coring and logging program was undertaken as well as pressure measurements and a micro production test.

In the other formation, Kobbe,  oil was encountered in sandstones of Triassic age at around 1.800 meters.

The forward plan is now to set casing and drill the third prospect down to approximately 2.700 meters.

When the well is completed work will commence to evaluate the Goliat area with respect to possible development.
