Nuclear Solutions Reports Progress on Nuclear Weapons Detector and Tritiated Water Remediation Patents


WASHINGTON, D.C., Feb. 15, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Nuclear Solutions, Inc. (OTCBB:NSOL) announced progress today on its U.S. and international patent applications relating to its patent-pending process to remediate tritiated water via an advanced separation technique and its patent-pending technology to detect shielded nuclear weapons and smuggled nuclear materials such as Uranium-235 and Plutonium-239 sufficient to make nuclear weapons.

Nuclear Solutions' patents to remediate tritiated water were published between December 22, 2005, and January 26, 2006. Publication occurs approximately 18 months after a patent's filing date and allows the applicant to assert provisional rights under certain circumstances to obtain a reasonable royalty from a third party that infringes upon the published application. Thus, damages for pre-patent grant infringement are now available to Nuclear Solutions with the publications of its patent applications.

Just as important, Nuclear Solutions' domestic patent applications for its shielded nuclear weapon and materials detection system are expected to be published in April 2006 when their 18-month period expires. Nuclear Solutions and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security are in discussions regarding the possibility of proof testing the prototype for the nuclear weapon and materials detector when completed.

Nuclear Solutions' applications for patents relating to both of these technologies have been cleared for foreign filing and are at various stages of consideration for international patent protection as well.

Its presence in wastewater poses a significant health risk because it is readily absorbed into the environment, like the hydrogen in ordinary water. The ingestion of tritiated water can result in radiation-induced damage to chromosomes within cell nuclei.
