StockPickReport Commentary -- February 23, 2006

Man oh man.

Did I ever hear it from my "buy and hold" friend today. He called to say, "Dude, the market's up." This of course, in deference to my belief that the market is oversold (etc.).

I reminded my friend that his recommendation to me to "buy and hold" the QQQQs' last Friday would have me digging out of a hole -- and, that's not "making money".

Oh, but I bitterly digress.

Not really. Not bitter. Pretty confident, actually.

The markets are in a short-term uptrend. But, weekly and monthly charts say, "look out below".

Wait, did that cause your pulse to quicken? Are you watching "Mad Money" right now? Is the Wall Street Journal across your lap?

Yeah, okay, I see. That's a problem. You kinda need to lay that stuff down.

Here's the deal. The markets are closer to a top. This is a super duper time to make some money on stocks you already bought. This is a good time to profit from your "buy and holds" from a month ago.

You know you're holding out. You want to move out of some stocks. When the market began the slide last week you were bummed. Maybe you kicked yourself and said, "I wish I had sold!"

Never fear! Your time is here! Let me be the first you hear today to say, "It's okay to go ahead and make some bread." Let your inner child grab the reins a minute.

Free up some cash. Take the family out to a movie. Get liquid a bit.

Hey, if the market climbs higher you have not lost a penny. There are opportunities every day. We'll try to find you some. If the market drops, though, you'll look back and say, "Gee whiz, maybe I should have made that money after all?"

I'm listening to a great song right now. "Now she's gone. And I'm out with a friend." (Black Coffee in Bed by Squeeze)

All I'm saying is, don't let her go. Put her back in the money. Hang out and wait for a bottom.

There will be one and -- hold on to your hat -- we may be telling you to buy "early", too.

That's okay, though. You won't mind. You'll be so eager to jump back in you'll chew right through the bit on the way to the track.
