Tenth Annual Deer Creek Classic to be Run Saturday, March 4, 2006

OKLAHOMA CITY, Feb. 28, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- As many as 1,000 runners are expected to participate in the 10th Annual Deer Creek Classic, which will start at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2006. 10K and 5K races and a 1-mile fun-run will be staged, with competitive runners gathering for the start at Deer Creek Middle School, 21175 North MacArthur Boulevard in Edmond.

The Deer Creek Classic race is a primary public PTO fundraiser for the four current schools in the Deer Creek School District: Deer Elementary, Prairie Vale Elementary, Deer Creek Middle School and Deer Creek High School as well as our new elementary, Rose Union, opening in the fall of 2006.

Registration and entry fees are $20 per person and $10 for active military personnel. For their entry fee, racers will receive a race T-shirt (while supplies last) and breakfast after the event.

Registrations will be taken via website at www.deercreekclassic.com until Friday, March 3rd at 8:00pm. Race Day entry will begin at 7:45 a.m. Saturday morning at Deer Creek Middle School on N. MacArthur Blvd.

Kevin Ewing, organizer of the 10th Annual Deer Creek Classic, noted that the 10K and 5K races are on USATF-certified courses that have been accurately measured and marked. Both races will feature timed splits, water stops and standard scoring. The competition will be timed by DG Productions.

"We have a flat, fast 10K course marked for the 10th Annual Deer Creek Classic, which is growing as an event every year," Ewing said.

"The 2005 race was our largest ever and the first time we staged a 10K. We expect this year's race to be even larger and more fun for the community."
