Nevada Gold Hosts Thousands at Vernon Downs Opening


HOUSTON, Sept. 5, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Nevada Gold & Casinos, Inc. (AMEX:UWN) announced today that the opening of Vernon Downs Racetrack included a crowd of over 12,000 fans and invited guests. The opening weekend included magicians, jugglers, clowns, and live music, ending with a spectacular fireworks display every night.

Eric Persson, Regional Vice President and General Manager of Vernon Downs, said, "We are very excited about the huge number of people that came out to witness the re-opening of Vernon Downs. I want to personally thank the city of Vernon officials, as well as New York State officials, in joining us to help bring racing back to Vernon Downs."

Post Time was 6:50 p.m. for each night's live racing and on Thursday, the first 1,500 patrons to sign up for the players club program received a free gift. Vernon Downs employs approximately 400 people from the surrounding areas.
