Northrop Grumman Creates New UK Company

LONDON, Dec. 5, 2006 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) today announced the creation of Northrop Grumman UK Limited, a new UK-registered company based in London that will facilitate the growth and expansion of Northrop Grumman activities in the UK defense, security, civil government and commercial sectors.

"Northrop Grumman has successfully operated in the UK over a number of years and in forming Northrop Grumman UK, the company is demonstrating its commitment to the UK and its desire to enhance its presence in this market," said Dr. Graham Thornton, Northrop Grumman UK's director and vice-president for business development. Dr. Thornton joined Northrop Grumman as UK executive director in January 2006.

"We will continue to provide advanced-technology solutions for UK defense and civil programs while increasing responsiveness to our customers. This also gives us the opportunity to develop our UK and international business with the intent, in time, of creating further advanced technology jobs within the UK," Dr. Thornton said.

He went on to say that "the creation of the new British company is consistent with Northrop Grumman's global, long-term commitment to growing its international business."

"Our two largest UK programs are the whole life support for the RAF's fleet of E-3D Sentry airborne warning and control system (AWACS) aircraft under which we are providing aircraft maintenance, supply chain management, training and other services, and IDENT1, the Home Office's identification service for the police forces of England, Wales and Scotland that provides an integrated finger and palm print system with flexible architecture and nationwide computing infrastructure," said Dr Thornton.

In addition, Northrop Grumman is a leading supplier of Directional Infra-red Counter-Measure (DIRCM) systems installed in many UK front-line and support aircraft. Production and repair services are provided through a strategic partnership with Selex Sensors and Airborne Systems at a newly opened facility in Chester. Other products and services being provided in the UK include the development and manufacture of unmanned ground vehicles for explosive ordnance disposal, the design, development, supply and through life support of the integrated platform management system (IPMS) for all UK Type 45 Destroyers, the provision of software support services for NATO's Maritime Command and Control Information System (MCCIS) program, and defense communications, electronic warfare, simulation, marine navigation, IT systems and software development.

"We expect to grow our UK capabilities in systems integration and other areas of high technology in our core aerospace and defense markets whilst continuing to expand into commercial and civil government markets, particularly identity management, where there is significant growth potential for the future," Dr. Thornton said.

Northrop Grumman operates from six primary locations in the UK: Coventry, Fareham, New Malden, Peterborough, Solihull and London.

The Board of Directors for Northrop Grumman UK Limited has four members. In addition to Dr. Graham Thornton, the other members are Mr. Robert W. Helm, corporate vice-president, business development and government relations, Mr. Stephen Yslas, corporate vice-president, secretary and deputy general counsel and Mr. Mark Rabinowitz, vice-president and assistant treasurer.

Northrop Grumman Corporation is a $30 billion global defense and technology company whose 120,000 employees provide innovative systems, products, and solutions in information and services, electronics, aerospace and shipbuilding to government and commercial customers worldwide.
