RIMOWA TANGO -- Award-Winning Innovation

COLOGNE, Germany, Dec. 18, 2006 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Mipel in Milan has singled out the new TANGO luggage series of the premium brand RIMOWA for its Innovation Award. Since its founding in 1962, Mipel has been one of the leading international trade fairs for leather goods, right in the heart of the fashion capital of Milan.

"The award from Mipel shows us that by setting our course towards quality and continual innovation, we are right on track," says a very pleased Dieter Morszeck, CEO of RIMOWA GmbH.

The TANGO relieves travellers of the constant packing and unpacking in the hotel. The technology is as easy as it is clever: TANGO has a wardrobe in the suitcase.

Thanks to TANGO, no more time is lost at the destination in unpacking and packing. Here, the wardrobe function of the suitcase proves to be a major advantage. The customer sets up the piece of luggage and can live quite comfortably "out of the suitcase". Nothing has to be stored in the hotel wardrobes; all accessories can be taken directly out of the different pockets and bags. Everything is -- and stays -- in its place.

Before departure, TANGO also saves time and effort. Travel checklists are no longer necessary, because as soon as all the pockets integrated in the TANGO are filled, all the accessories that are necessary for the business trip or short excursion have been stored. In particular, the new two-chamber suitcase contains the following:

    * a clothes bag
    * shirt pockets
    * a shoe bag
    * laundry nets
    * a belt pocket
    * a bag for toiletries
    * a tie holder

The combination of modernity and tradition is also reflected in the design. For almost 70 years, aluminium suitcases have been the trademark of the company. The suitcases with the grooved structure have developed into design classics and world bestsellers around the globe. The TANGO series now uses a new, ultramodern material -- without neglecting the classic design.

The TANGO series is available in an elegant blue and black. In spite of the storage capacity of up to 150 litres, the TANGO is still pleasantly light to handle, with its 3.3 to 5.8 kilograms. The four ball-bearing, multi-wheel, double guide rollers with low-noise wrap-around frame also contribute to this. Additional details in the usual premium quality include the telescopic handle with an aluminium finish, tubes made of aluminium and the high-quality YKK zipper.

With the TSA security zipper combination locks, the traveller can also send his TANGO overseas locked. Customs, for example in the USA, have a master key for this, which eliminates the danger of the suitcase being broken open.

Today's RIMOWA company has developed from a manufacturer of travel suitcases which was founded in 1898 in Cologne under the name Kofferfabrik Paul Morszeck. Richard Morszeck, the son of the company founder, introduced the first aluminium suitcases to the market in 1937. In 1950, the company sold the first suitcases made of aircraft aluminium with the grooved structure, which still distinguishes it to this day. In 1976, Dieter Morszeck, who has guided the RIMOWA company into the third generation, developed the first waterproof suitcases, which were especially appreciated by photographers and film crews.
