Bow Favour - Main Engine Breakdown - Update 5

The cargo onboard will be transhipped to the Bow Flower as soon as she arrives alongside the Bow Favour, expected arrival is 26 February. After completed inspections and transhipment of cargo the ship will continue her tow towards ASRY in Bahrain where repairs will start as soon as practical. Expected time of arrival in Bahrain is 2 March.

The damages that have been reported are various and complex. However, the major damage has been caused to the crank shaft where we know that on 3 (out of 7) cylinders the crankshaft webs are twisted on the pin, causing off- align crank webs/crank pins. The main cause of the damages is very likely Main Engine overspeed.

The time perspective of the repairs are still uncertain, however, as soon as the inspections have been completed, time estimates based on the available inspection results will be made. It is expected, however, that the repairs will be relatively long- lasting.

The Bow Favour (dwt 37 000/built 2001 at Kleven Florø) is owned and managed by Odfjell ASA. The ship has Norwegian officers and Filipino crew.
