WASHINGTON, March 16, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) is serving as the 2007 Industry Partner to the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) for the 5th Annual U.S. Missile Defense Conference and Exhibition to be held March 19 - 22 at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington. The conference is sponsored by the U.S. Missile Defense Agency.
Northrop Grumman is located in Booth No. 106 and will be showcasing its key missile defense programs with a focus on its command and control integration expertise.

Northrop Grumman is involved in every aspect of the current Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS). The company is the prime contractor for the:
- Kinetic Energy Interceptor, a mobile missile defense system that can destroy enemy ballistic missiles in the boost, ascent and midcourse phases;
- Space Tracking and Surveillance System, a global satellite system that will detect, track and discriminate ballistic missiles throughout their trajectories; and operator of the
- Joint National Integration Center, the nation's premier wargaming center for evaluating and integrating warfighter requirements into the BMDS and the center for BMDS-level modeling and simulation, ground and flight tests, analysis and operational training.
As a BMDS subcontractor, Northrop Grumman is:
- Providing two of the four lasers for the Airborne Laser to prime contractor, The Boeing Company;
- Part of the National Team Command and Control Battle Management and Communications System leading the software development work
- Developing the fire control and launch control equipment software to The Boeing Company for the Ground-based Midcourse Defense system.
