KESKO CORPORATION PRESS RELEASE 02.05.2007 AT 14.15 1(1)
A new unit, Corporate Responsibility and Business Development, headed by Lasse Mitronen, 49, D.Sc. (Econ. & Bus. Adm.), was established in Kesko with effect from 1 May 2007. In the same context, Ulla Rehell, 46, M.Sc, (Tech.) was appointed Assistant Vice President, Corporate Responsibility. Head of Corporate Responsibility Jouko Kuisma will retire on 1 July 2007.
The purpose of the new unit is to intensify Kesko's work for corporate responsibility and to increasingly integrate it with the ordinary management and business development functions. The unit is responsible for the maintenance of Kesko's and the K-Group's business model and practices, for the promotion of responsible and efficient business operations, and for the guidance of practical implementations.
The Corporate Responsibility and Business Development unit operates under Corporate Executive Vice President Juhani Järvi. Lasse Mitronen has been employed by Kesko since 1984. His previous positions include Vice President, Strategic Development since 2002, and Head of the Corporate Planning unit between 1997-2002.
In her new position as Assistant Vice President, Corporate Responsibility, Ulla Rehell is in charge of the development and implementation of Kesko's responsibility principles, related operating systems, practices and reporting in Finland and abroad. Ulla Rehell has been employed by Kesko as Senior Manager, Corporate Responsibility since 2003. Her previous employers include PricewaterhouseCoopers Oy, and the Finnsugar, Cultor and Danisco Groups.
Jouko Kuisma has been employed by Kesko since 1976. Among his many positions, Kuisma was in charge of Kesko's relations with international organisations between 1995-2001 and has acted as Head of Corporate Responsibility since 2001.
For several years, Kesko's work for corporate responsibility has been widely recognised both nationally and internationally. Last year, Kesko's corporate responsibility report was named the best in the trading sector for the third time in a global comparison conducted for the UN Environmental Programme UNEP.
