New Service Adds Convenience for Texas Motorists

IRVING, TX -- (MARKET WIRE) -- May 8, 2007 -- AAA Texas has launched a new service that makes it convenient for Texas motorists who use statewide toll roads.

The TxTag Toll Road Transponder can now be purchased at any of the 22 AAA Texas district offices in the state. It comes preloaded with $20, but AAA members pay only $18 (non-members pay $20).

"All Texas drivers have the convenience of purchasing the TxTag immediately instead of ordering by phone or online and waiting for the transponder to arrive in the mail days later," said Mark Bell, general manager for AAA Texas.

What is a TxTag sticker? The TxTag sticker is an electronic device that can be used statewide to pay toll road charges. It goes on the inside of a vehicle's windshield and is slightly smaller than the vehicle registration or inspection sticker. As the driver passes through the toll area, the toll will automatically be deducted from the device. There is no stopping at toll booths or searching for change. In addition, most toll roads throughout the state offer discounted rates when using a tag.

Note: AAA sells new tags, however, the tags must be reloaded directly with TxTag. Full details are available in the instructional kit that comes with the tags when purchased.
