American Ecology Appoints Chief Financial Officer


BOISE, ID -- (MARKET WIRE) -- May 17, 2007 -- American Ecology Corporation (NASDAQ: ECOL) today announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Jeffrey R. Feeler Chief Financial Officer.

"Jeff Feeler has made a strong contribution since joining the American Ecology team. He brings close to 15 years of experience in financial reporting, including nine years in public accounting and several years with Fortune 50 companies. Jeff has demonstrated the ability to serve effectively as the company's Chief Financial Officer and we are pleased to appoint him to this position," commented President and Chief Executive Officer Stephen Romano.

Feeler, 37, joined American Ecology in July 2006 as Vice President, Controller, Chief Accounting Officer, Treasurer and Secretary. A CPA, Mr. Feeler previously held financial and accounting management positions with MWI Veterinary Supply, Inc., Albertson's, Inc. and Hewlett-Packard Company in Boise. He previously served as a Senior Manager for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.
