- Marel hf subsidiary acquires Maritech's distribution and service divisions in Norway

A Marel hf subsidiary has purchased the distribution and service divisions of
Maritech in Norway from AKVA Group ASA. In future, Marel Food Systems will
handle distribution of group products in Norway.

Maritech has been the agent for Marel Food Systems in Norway for 20 years,
playing a large role in creating a strong market position for the company's
products there. Nineteen employees of Maritech's distribution division that
have been involved in sales and services of Marel Food System products will
continue working. Also included in the acquisition are liquid assets that have
been part of operations.

Marel Food Systems will take over operations on 1 September 2007.

The acquisition is part of the company's new strategy to own all distribution
and sales companies. Currently, Marel Food Systems operates 24 sales and
distribution operations worldwide.

The purchase will have an insignificant impact on the company's turnover.
