Hutchins Added to Keynote Lineup for Wall Street Journal First Annual Deals and Deal Makers Conference

NEW YORK, June 22, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Glenn Hutchins, co-founder and managing director of Silver Lake, has been added as a keynote speaker for the first annual Deals and Deal Makers Conference to be held June 27 at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). Silver Lake is the leading investment firm focused on large scale investments in technology, technology-enabled, and related growth industries.

Mr. Hutchins replaces Steven A. Schwarzman, chairman and chief executive officer of The Blackstone Group, who dropped out of the conference on Friday afternoon. Mr. Schwarzman's spokesman would not provide a reason for the cancellation. "He can't do it," the spokesman said. "There's no way he can do it."

Mr. Hutchins has spent his business career as a private equity investor in growth companies and large-scale buyouts. Prior to co-founding Silver Lake, Mr. Hutchins was a senior managing director and general partner of The Blackstone Group, L.P. and before that a managing director of Thomas H. Lee Company. Previously, he was a director of TD Ameritrade Holding Corp., Seagate Technology, MCI, Inc., Gartner, Inc. and Instinet, Inc.

"There's certainly going to be plenty to talk about, with the success of the Blackstone IPO, the attack in Washington on private equity and hedge fund taxation, and the recent turmoil in the markets," said Alan Murray assistant managing editor, The Wall Street Journal.

The conference, co-hosted by Alan Murray and Dennis Berman of The Wall Street Journal, will take an in-depth look at the world of deal making with some of Wall Street's leading powerbrokers and discuss various topics such as new strategies in the deal world, economics and private equity.

As announced previously, the 2007 Deals and Deal Makers Conference will feature the following leading dealmakers:

Opening remarks begin at 8:30 a.m. and will feature each speaker throughout the day. The conference will conclude at 6:00 p.m. with a wine tasting and cocktail reception hosted by the Journal's wine columnists, Dorothy Gaiter and John Brecher and columnist Eric Felten on the trading room floor of the NYSE.
