NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ--(Marketwire - October 24, 2007) - Bowker, the global leader in
bibliographic information management, and Booklog, a leading point-of-sale
and inventory management system for booksellers, today announced the launch
of a new suite of order information services from Bowker that integrates
with the latest version of Booklog's POS system.
The newly integrated Bowker content includes one-screen access for
bookstore managers to do real-time checks of publisher price and
availability and order books electronically through Pubnet. These Bowker
products will be seamlessly integrated into the new 8.0 version of Booklog,
which is available now.
"We're delighted to extend our partnership with Booklog, one of the true
innovators in the development of POS and inventory management software
solutions, and believe that the integration of our robust content from the
Bowker family of data services with Booklog's industry-leading POS platform
will help bookstores maximize profitability and increase customer loyalty,"
said Charlie Friscia, director of retail business services for Bowker.
"The point of sale system is the life blood of retail, and our goal is to
deliver all services directly and seamlessly to the retailer through this
tool."
According to Friscia, Bowker and Booklog have worked together in recent
years to deliver various book ordering solutions to book retailers. The
relationship between the two organizations has been so successful that they
decided to expand their existing services to include a more robust and
fully integrated offering from Bowker.
"This new suite of services from Bowker is a major value-add for customers
of Booklog because it will significantly increase efficiency at the retail
level, enabling book retailers to deliver faster and more satisfactory
customer service, and will allow booksellers and book publishers to work
together more effectively," said David DeCastro, vice president of
operations and marketing at Booklog.
