MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwire - December 4, 2007) - OPPO Digital (www.oppodigital.com), a
renowned leader in up-converting DVD players, today announced that both its
HM-31 HDMI Switch and DV-980H up-converting player won the 2007 Consumer
Excellence (CE) Awards from Audioholics. The CE awards program recognizes
the most advanced and forward-thinking products in crucial consumer
electronics categories.
"As an ideal source component for the latest audio/video receivers with
HDMI, the DV-980H stands out from competing products by featuring PCM and
DSD multi-channel high resolution audio through its HDMI 1.2a output and
for DVD-Audio and SACD," wrote Clint DeBoer of Audioholics.
OPPO's DV-980H up-converting player won top honors in the highly
competitive DVD and Universal Disc Player category. The latest addition to
OPPO's award-winning collection of up-converting players, the DV-980H
offers 1080p video up-conversion and 7.1-channel audio output -- enabling
standard DVDs to look their best on high-definition televisions and
ensuring audio lovers enjoy a wealth of high-resolution music. The player
features a USB 2.0 port, high resolution photo slide show capability, and
DivX playback function to open the home theater to digital cameras,
portable audio players, and content downloaded from the Internet.
"Consumers clearly want to future proof to some extent their existing DVD
libraries as well as move user generated as well as purchased content that
resides on multiple consumer electronics products, and bring it into their
home theater experience. Upconverting DVD players like the DV-980H allow
them to do that quite easily," said Randy Giusto, group vice president and
general manager of IDC's Mobility, and Consumer markets research group.
Along with the DV-980H, OPPO's HM-31 HDMI Switch was also recognized --
winning best product in the Splitter and Switches category. As one of the
few HDMI Switches to pass the official HDMI 1.3 certification test, the
HM-31 is compatible with all HDTV resolutions up to 1080p and PC
resolutions up to 1920x1200. Equipped with advanced HDMI 1.3 features such
as Deep Color, higher bandwidth and a signal equalizer, the HM-31 is ready
to support the latest generation of home theater products.
"Audioholics sets a clear benchmark in identifying products that will make
an impact in the coming year," said Jason Liao, vice president of product
development for OPPO Digital. "We're thrilled that not one, but two, of our
products took home top honors this year. Since their release, both the
DV-980H and HM-31 have created a loyal following within the audio and video
communities for offering high quality and versatility, without a big price
tag."
The award-winning DV-980H and HM-31 are available today at an estimated
retail price of $169 and $99 respectively and can be ordered directly from
OPPO Digital's web site www.oppodigital.com or through an authorized
reseller.
