HERNDON, VA--(Marketwire - January 22, 2008) - Command Information, the premier provider of
next generation network services, today announced it has named
industry-renowned telecommunications executive Jerry Edgerton to the post
of Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
As CEO, Mr. Edgerton assumes responsibility for the management and growth
of Command Information's operations, including its Federal and Commercial
units. He will align the company's core offerings to meet today's business
needs, providing both the education and solutions needed for a smooth
transition to the next generation of Internet services.
"Command Information has used its extensive experience in network
engineering management and solutions development to create a compelling
vision for the next generation Internet," said Mr. Edgerton. "Our
go-forward strategy is to take the roadmap and toolset we've developed to
migrate business and Federal agency networks, as well as create edge
applications and solutions that leverage the transition to new internet
standards. The company is well-positioned to help its clients understand
and take advantage of these changes, and I am excited to be joining Command
Information at such a critical point."
Mr. Edgerton is a widely known and well-respected leader in the government
telecommunications market. For the past 20 years, Mr. Edgerton led the MCI
Federal Government business unit and served as President of Verizon Federal
after the companies' merger in 2006. In these roles, he was responsible
for building the Federal unit into a $3 billion enterprise. Prior to
joining MCI, Mr. Edgerton directed the Federal operations of
Tymnet/McDonnell Douglas Network Systems.
"The use of next generation Internet capabilities solves many of the issues
of today's Internet, including security and address limitations, while at
the same time creating an entirely new class of services," said Charlie
Moore, Managing Director of The Carlyle Group and a Member of Command
Information's Board of Directors. "These capabilities also enable new and
exciting business and consumer applications. It's our job to educate
customers on the complexity of tomorrow's networks and to help them realize
the vision in a timely and orderly fashion. Mr. Edgerton's in-depth
knowledge and understanding of today's evolving network technology makes
him the perfect choice to lead Command Information and its growing customer
base into the future," Moore added.
Mr. Edgerton was earlier recruited to Command Information's Board of
Directors by the company's founder and former CEO, Tom Patterson, who has
since left the company to pursue other interests. Mr. Edgerton remains a
member of the Command Information Board of Directors.
