FTCA Inc. Previews New State-of-the-Art Coleman Concept Trailer at Pennsylvania RV and Camping Show

Switchback "Anti-RV" Sport/Utility Camping Trailer Is Multi-Functional and Ultra-Light for Easy Towing With Compact Cars

SOMERSET, PA--(Marketwire - September 8, 2008) - FTCA Inc., the manufacturer of Coleman® Camping Trailers, announced today that it will provide a sneak peak preview of its exciting new ultra-light concept trailer, the "anti-RV" Switchback Sport/Utility Camping Trailer, at the Pennsylvania RV and Camping Show (booth #540W).

Weighing approximately 700 pounds, the Switchback is compatible for towing behind fuel-efficient compact cars and Crossover Utility Vehicles (CUVs).

"The Switchback likes to work but loves to play as it combines the camping trailer comforts of an off-the-ground tent with the versatility of a sport and utility trailer," said Dana Gehman, FTCA Product Development & Marketing Manager.

In the camping mode, the Switchback concept trailer features a backpacker style tent, which deploys to create a spacious 12-foot-9-inch by 6-foot-6-inch space with sleeping accommodations for four or more campers. Two 51-inch by 78-inch private sleeping areas feature meshed ceiling panels for sleeping under the stars, and include rain protection with an easy-to-deploy rain fly. Between the wing-like sleeping compartments is a 52-inch by 80-inch common area that can easily become an impromptu dining area or additional sleeping space.

"Unlike other ultra-lightweight sport/utility trailers, this layout is ideal for singles, couples, friends, and families who think green and want to leave a small carbon footprint with their tow vehicle choice and camping lifestyle," added Gehman.

The versatile Switchback also functions as a capable utility trailer for closer to home activities such as landscaping or weekend building projects. With a front gear deck measuring 31 inches by 52 inches, and a versatile roof rack system, the Switchback can easily carry standard 4-by 8-foot plywood sheets and two-by-fours, shrubs or bags of mulch.

As Gehman explains it, "This trailer is more than just a really good camping trailer. It is a sport trailer that hauls your bicycles and kayaks, and a utility trailer when you need one. It's really two or three trailers in one. That's why we say it likes to work but loves to play."

The Switchback's MSRP is expected to be approximately $4,000 and will be appearing at selected authorized Coleman Camping Trailer dealers soon. To get a sneak peak at the exciting Coleman Switchback Sport/Utility trailer, visit the Coleman Camping Trailer display at the Pennsylvania RV and Camping Show in Hershey, Pa., Industry only days are Sept. 8 and 9, and the show is open to the public Sept. 10-14.
