Notification of Voting Rights pursuant to § 21 para. 1 WpHG

October 2008

Third Avenue Management LLC, New York, USA, informed us according to
section 21, paragraph 1 of the German Securities Trading Act that as of
October 23, 2008 they have exceeded the threshold of 5% of the voting
rights in LANXESS AG and hold on that day 5.01% of the voting rights. This
corresponds to 4,167,598 voting rights.

These voting rights are in their entirety attributable to Third Avenue
Management LLC pursuant to § 22 para. 1 sent. 1 no. 6 WpHG.
