CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwire - December 10, 2008) - Kathy Apple, MS, RN, CAE, Chief Executive
Officer (CEO) of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc.
(NCSBN®),
www.ncsbn.org, has been selected to serve as an American
National Standards Institute (ANSI) Director-at-Large. Apple will serve a
three-year term beginning Jan. 1, 2009.
ANSI serves as administrator and coordinator of the U.S. private sector
voluntary standardization system. Its Board of Directors is comprised of 50
ANSI members who work in diverse fields, including agriculture,
environmental protection, health care and telecommunications. The Board's
membership is currently comprised of 29 Directors-at-Large and several
ex-officio members, all of whom are committed to the mission of ANSI: to
enhance U.S. global competitiveness and the American quality of life.

Serving as NCSBN CEO since June 2001, Apple brings more than 33 years of
nursing and regulation experience to her position. Prior to her tenure at
NCSBN, Apple served as executive director of the Nevada State Board of
Nursing and on the NCSBN Board of Directors as director-at-large and vice
president. Apple holds a Master of Science in Psychiatric Nursing from the
University of Nevada, Reno, a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology
from the University of Alaska and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from
California State University, Long Beach. She is a Robert Wood Johnson
Foundation Executive Nurse Fellow and credentialed by the American Society
of Association Executives as a certified association executive.
