ORLANDO, Fla., March 10, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- MtronPTI, a leading producer of frequency control, filter and modular subsystem products, announced it would begin marketing a series of extremely small and powerful frequency control devices for Global Positioning Systems (GPS) aimed at the multi-billion dollar military, avionics and telecommunications markets. Designated the M9100 Series of Global Positioning System Disciplined Oscillators (GPSDO), the device is designed to meet military environmental requirements and timing system demands, and is ideal for man-pack, military vehicle mount and airborne applications.
"This is the industry's first device in this small-size format that can work in systems requiring extremely precise timing accuracy and exact locating needs," according Joe Doyle, MtronPTI's vice president of engineering. "Size and weight are vital considerations for the soldier on the battlefield because the lower the devices' weight and size, the more mobility the soldier will have," Doyle said.

Technical Data
The ultra small device is 1.5" x 1.0" x .5" in size and weighs approximately 1 ounce. This product uses a 10MHz OCXO-source and has 1 PPS (Pulse Per Second) accuracy of +/-50ns to UTC RMS (1-Sigma) when GPS locked and +/-11us holdover for a 3 hour period @ 25 degrees Celsius. It can operate over a temperature range of -40 to +85 degrees Celsius. The product can be connected using the on board SMB or 3-pin RS-232 connectors.
