Entropic Communications Demonstrates MoCA(r) Coexistence With Channel Stacking Switch Technology At ASTRA Industry Days

Powerful Combination of Technology Brings High-Definition Home Networking
Capability to Direct Broadcast Satellite Deployments

SAN DIEGO, March 17, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Entropic Communications, Inc.
(Nasdaq:ENTR), a leading provider of silicon solutions to enable connected home
entertainment, conducted a live demonstration of its c.LINK(r) MoCA(r) solution
working in conjunction with its Channel Stacking Switch (CSS) technology on a
single cable network at the recently held ASTRA Industry Days in Luxembourg
City, Luxembourg. The demonstration highlights the ability for direct broadcast
satellite operators to cost-effectively deliver advanced network services to
consumers over a robust wired entertainment network.

c.LINK(r) and CSS - A Powerful Combination

ASTRA, the leading provider of direct to home (DTH) satellite services in
Europe, invited Entropic to demonstrate how its connected home entertainment
technologies can be used by DBS operators to deliver programming over a single
cable structure that also supports whole-home entertainment networking to
expand the service offerings to subscribers. The combination of CSS and c.LINK
MoCA technology offers competitive advantages by lowering installation costs
and by providing new opportunities for increasing average revenue per user
(ARPU) through home network services and applications. Together, MoCA and CSS
offer DBS operators proven, ready-to-deploy technology solutions that are
reliable, cost-efficient, robust and future-proof, which can help improve the
operator's bottom line.

Entropic's c.LINK MoCA solutions create a robust whole home entertainment
network capable of handling multiple streams of high definition (HD) video.
With a MoCA enabled network in place, operators can offer home networking
services such as multi-room DVR, media centers, and server-based video on
demand (VOD) or pay per view (PPV). Additionally, with MoCA, the customer can
access their personal content over this network and stream music, view a
slideshow of family photos, or watch stored or downloaded video from the PC or
network attached storage (NAS) to any viewing location on the network.

Entropic's CSS technology, which can deliver DBS programming to up to 12 tuners
in a residence over a single cable, dramatically reduces installation
complexity and provides overall system cost savings for operators. In addition,
a CSS-enabled satellite installation provides frequency agility offering
operators more flexibility in spectrum allocation permitting a MoCA home
network to exist on the same coaxial infrastructure.

"Consumers are redefining the entertainment experience and demanding access to
content, anytime, anywhere," said Vinay Gokhale, senior vice president of
Marketing and Business Development at Entropic Communications. "CSS provide DBS
operators with a cost effective and easy way to offer subscribers a MoCA
whole-home entertainment network as a platform for delivering new and exciting
entertainment services."

Leveraging the Coaxial Infrastructure

Entropic's demonstration at ASTRA Industry Days showcased a live ASTRA
satellite feed utilizing CSS technology combined with a c.LINK MoCA network on
the same coaxial infrastructure. Live television was viewed simultaneously with
peer-to-peer gaming and high-definition video streaming. A DLNA certified
client and server combination was used to showcase the high-definition video
streaming. Current generation gaming console platforms were also incorporated
to provide networked gaming functionality. In addition, a local WAN link
provided shared internet connectivity to all the devices on the MoCA network.

"Our ongoing collaborations with Entropic Communications continue to push
innovation in DBS delivery," said Thomas Wrede, vice president Product
Management Media at ASTRA. "The combination of single cable delivery and
coaxial home networking will allow us as a leading satellite operator to
distribute advanced entertainment services and to offer lower system costs."
