Orbit International's Electronics Group Receives Critical Design Awards Valued in Excess of $940,000

Anticipated Follow-On Orders Could Reach $4,000,000 Over the Next Four Years

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y., April 22, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Orbit International Corp. (Nasdaq:ORBT), a defense electronics manufacturer, systems integrator and software solution provider, today announced that its Electronics Group, Tulip Development Laboratory, Inc, ("Tulip") has received two new prototype design and qualification contracts totaling approximately $940,000. Both orders will be designed, engineered and manufactured in the Company's Quakertown, PA. facility. Deliveries under both of these contracts are expected to commence in the third quarter of 2009 and continue through the fourth quarter of 2009.

The first contract received by Tulip, valued at approximately $450,000, is for a switch matrix system for ground mobile vehicle systems, and it was awarded after a highly technical and cost competitive proposal process. The customer, a leading global defense and electronics prime contractor, was extremely selective in the quality of prototype capabilities of the potential vendor, including ramp-up production time, as well as the total capacity of the vendor's facility. The Tulip system provided this customer with a unique field deployable design that can be easily installed on a number of older, current and future Ground Mobile System configurations. This contract represents the second such order from this prime contractor. Based upon input from this customer, once the system's field service retrofit capabilities are validated in a number of Ground Mobile Vehicle systems, anticipated follow-on orders could reach $4,000,000 over the next four years.

The second order, valued at approximately $490,000, is designed to support ruggedized color display for communication requirements by virtually all mass transit systems nationwide. Although these displays represent the latest state-of-the-art technology which Tulip previously shipped for this requirement, the customer has recently indicated that a new universal design is under consideration. Since the new design incorporates electrical, mechanical and software modifications recommended by Tulip, management is anticipating their total solution approach will lead to new awards as Tulip becomes the preferred supplier of choice. Should the next generation configuration, with real time GPS and data display be adapted, this limited annual program, could grow into a significant future revenue stream, as a multi year procurement for a number of domestic transportation authority system requirements.

David Gutman, President of Tulip stated, "We are encouraged by the potential for our switch matrix system, given the quantities of Ground Mobile Vehicles that have been fully deployed and are currently operational in critical combat missions. Our system can be easily incorporated into a number of different vehicle configurations, on site and without the requirement of a depot repair facility. The potential follow-on production awards for our system is significant, estimated at $4,000,000 over a four year period."

Gutman added, "With regard to the mass transit color display, if and when the next generation display is required, we are in an excellent technology position to produce the new design and in an equally strong manufacturing position to handle larger program quantities for new systems, as well as a sizeable retrofit market."

Dennis Sunshine, President and Chief Executive Officer of Orbit International Corp., commented, "Tulip continues to pursue a significant amount of business opportunities for both new and repeat order program requirements. Over the years, Tulip has demonstrated its ability to support a number of shipboard, avionic and vetronic custom display programs, by enhancing its design and electronic capabilities, and through reliable, continuous production and on-time deliveries."

Sunshine concluded, "We are nearing completion on a lease for a larger Tulip operating facility and have communicated to our customers that the new facility will have the capacity and personnel to handle significantly higher levels of production without any interruptions."
